RIP ! He was one of my favorite drummers. Legend.
great drummer
RIP dear Clem, thanks for 50 years of memories and great music
His drumming on "Dreaming" was manic. Perfection....... may he r.i.p. 😢
Clem admitted that he "overdrummed" on that iconic song but who cares? It's the rhythm that drives that song. My favorite Blondie cut.
He never got the recognition he deserved for being one of the best drummers ever
Drummers knew he was very good and he festured in the Rhythm and Modern Drummer magazines many times.
His work into music psychology and his efgirts to encourage education establishments to use drumming to help autustic children was very important.
Hopefully there are children who benefitted from his promotion of the positive effects drumming can have foe them.
So he was a lot more than just a legendary Blondie drummer and also session musician.
What are you on about?! He's greatly respected in drumming and music in general.
RIP Clem absolute legend and loved his drumming on Dreaming 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for putting this together.
I knew Clem had worked with a number of other bands but had no idea how many.
His career will always be remembered for his infectious and powerful drumming o so many Blondie hits.
As a youngster in 78/79 it was definitely Clems drumming that helped those great songs become major hits right across the globe.
RIP and condolences ti his close family and friends.
Oh man ....UGH one of my favorite drummers. His styles were unmatched ...Especially on the song Blondie's 'Dreamin' I was mesmerized...
R.I.P. Clem...much love and respect..❤
I cannot accept this….. as a Blondie fan since the beginning…. hearing and seeing “Picture This” while waiting for a pizza and the video to match… the yellow dress with the flashlight… omg… sex sex sex… my life was never the same after that…. His family Debbie and Chris must be beyond devastated as am I nearing his young age….. omg…. Omg… Clem I love you❤
Hopefully the New Album will be a fitting Tribute! Legend!
Brilliant versatile drummer and songwriter brought so much colour to Blondie. Without him they couldn't have played all those different styles . Very sad news. RIP
RIP my favorite drummer, Clem Burke,
He was a legend to me. Growing up in London England. . Yes I am a pro drummer. Part of the punk . Goth and new wave Scene . Denis Denis was my first . Record. . Brilliant ❤️ rest is history. I followed clem on all media. Shock is not the word . Gutted I am . Sad we lost one of the best drummers in the world . 😢rip buddy fly high . Thank you for this fantastic. Article about clem thanks so much 🙏
Clem was an immensely powerful drummer and he also had a great haircut so my heart goes out to his family and his band buddys.
I'm sadden shocked and suprised by the news of his death, which has not been reported in the UK. One of the first bands I fell in love with, was Blondie in 1980, and what appealed to me the most was Clems drumming, the beat. He will be sorley missed.R.I.P
Rest in peace, thank you for the music
clem was the best of the best rest in peace sir I'm proud to play your records I will miss you man 👍❤️
May you rest peace Clem from fan,😊
Two years back, I FINALLY got to see Deborah Harry and Blondie. She had wanted to tour in 2020 but CoVid stopped that one. Blondie got back on the road two years later. One of those stops was the Grand Ole Opryl in Nashville, Tn. This is where I caught them. I was impressed at the strength of her voice not to mention the energy that Clem Burke used to power that band. I was always amazed at how Clem could drum in a suit jacket and barely sweat., When he laid down the beat for "Dreaming", I about lost it. The man never missed a beat.
A couple of factoids: Joey Ramone fired Clem during his brief stint with the band. Said that he (Burke) wasn't "fast" enough to "keep up." Bullshit. Evidently Joey never heard "Dreaming". He was head and shoulders BETTER than anyone who ever sat behind a drum riser for the Ramones. They did him a favor. He didn't need to be in that trash band.
Around the time Blondie went back on the road in 2022, the GoGos did the same. Only drummer Gina Schock became ill and could play. Clem filled in and saved the tour. The man was a force of nature. Working never fazed him.
I'm devastated at his loss. I learned about here. .All my favs are passing on.
Grande baterista 👋
Descanse en paz 🕊️
As the narrator says, 𝐚 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝.
