Shit, now I feel terrible for ever thinking bad about Bert. He's so caring, even with Reiner the way he is. Bert confirmed for best Shingeki. ;_;7
Ymir gets better and better with every chapter. <3
Eren wakes up. He's surprised that his arms aren't regenerating at all. Same for Ymir. Looks like Reiner did it.
Eren chews on his arms to try to turn back into a titan, but Ymir stops him by telling him that they're surrounded by titans.
Ymir asks what Reiner and Berthold intend to do with them, and they reply that they want to go back to their hometown to repeat their conversation (?).
Eren wonders how they can escape and what happened to the Scouting Legion.
Ymir asks Reiner how the titans at the castle could move at night, since the titans here can't. Reiner replies that "you should know, right Ymir?"
Eren wonders why Ymir can become a titan. For now, he decides to get some information from the other three.
But as Eren wonders what and how to do this, Ymir asks Reiner for water. Reiner rejects her, citing the circumstances. [Eren?] realises that he hasn't eaten or drank anything since yesterday morning. "Well, in the end the wall wasn't broken, so let me take a break. The talk of [raising of status?] can come later," he says jokingly.
[This is a big run on sentence so I'm just going to paraphrase] Without a care in the world, Reiner starts talking about Christa and how she almost made him forget that he's a titan. Naturally, Eren gets mad - "don't screw with me you bastard, if you want to die just say so!"
Ymir tells Eren that there's nothing normal about [him?], and that if he knows something he shouldn't stay quiet, he should do something.
Ymir admonishes Reiner with "you're not a soldier, are you? We are." Reiner replies with "yeah, you're right" and covers his face with one hand.
Ymir comments on Reiner's confusion. "I thought it was strange. To risk your life breaking the wall, then saving Connie. You were unaware of this contradiction. You probably wanted to be the soldier whose goal was to break the wall, but while playing the role of a soldier, you forgot what your goal really was. As a result, your heart broke, you altered your memories, and your speech no longer meshed [?]." Reiner looks at Ymir in amazement.
Ymir goes to continue talking, but Reiner tells her to shut up. Ymir withdraws, saying "sorry, I pushed too hard,"
Naturally, there's no way Eren understood that explanation.
"Why are you playing the victim? That day we first enlisted, with you, me, Berthold and Armin sitting in a circle, why did you listen to our story?"
"Hey, Berthold, you sycophantic lackey. What did you think when I told you my mother was eaten by a titan?"
"I thought it was unfortunate," says Berthold, as though he was someone else.
Eren is flabbergasted and condemns them with "ah...I finally get it. You guys aren't soldiers or warriors or anything. You're just murderers. Genocidal demons." Reiner replies "I know that already, I don't need you to tell me," and Eren replies "then you shouldn't be worrying about it like a human."
Ymir explains how Monkey Titan is the reason the Titans are spawning within the walls. She says he is doing this for reconnaissance to judge how strong the humans are.
Ymir tells Eren that Bert and Reiner want to head to where the Monkey Titan is because that will lead them back to their homeland.
Ymir refuses to explain further. But says defeating those two titans doesn't mean anything.
Eren asks who the real enemy is.
Ymir about to tell but Reiner stops her.
Reiner - Do you think this world has a future?
Reiner - If you know that much then think about your position. You could help us, come to our side.
Ymir - Trust you? Impossible. You can't and don't trust me.
Reiner - No, we can trust you. Your purpose is to protect Christa.
There is a panel of an angel looking back. Ymir changes her expression.
Reiner - I know we can agree on that. You may think I'm joking, but I want to protect Christa as much as you do. Or do you put more trust in Eren?
Ymir - what?
Eren and Ymir look at each other. A streak of sweat over Ymir's forehead.
Reiner - You wanted to use Eren to escape out of here. You thought if you were taken by us, there was no chance of you surviving.
Truthfully, you are right.
Even if you are with us, I can't guarantee your safety.
But if it's only Christa, we might be able to save her.
Either Christa's safety or the short life you have left. You have to choose.
A confused Eren asks once again, who is the enemy?!
Ymir, "who knows..."
Will remove it if posting it breaks the rules.
It's getting more twisted. Not that Isayama would spit it out in a chapter - I am somewhat happy that the things continued in this chapter - no flashbacks, other lines followed.
So, Ape is dat factor of doom to humans. Kind of expected, because he represents the "original" titans. Reiner and Bert want to go back to their origins and can alter memory as Eren loses them? Also, Christa, w/e, it becomes a bit annoying to converge all salvation to her w/o saying a damn word or doing anything to help humankind (/rant). How much worse the situation could get, meh. O.o
Agree on all reply above. this chapter is making me more confusing... @@"
PS: Count down one month start from now again.. cry T.T
I hope next chapter will at least tell us something important ><"
Conspiracy chapter. Wondering again why Bert and Reiner want to go back to their hometown.
What is waiting for them? And Bert and Reiner seem strong enough. But still the world is hopeless?
Announcement at last page
Short anime DVD [Side Story: Ilse's Notebook] was postponed. It will come with volume 12 in December.
I saw the raws last night and something keeps bugging me. Christa has some sort of humanizing (or pacifying) effect on human-titans (or at least to some of their kind).
Grisha however changed the fate of his son (until stated otherwise, I'll consider Eren human before the first attack) to a human-titan. Which is what - the opposite?
And it seems like Ymir and Reiner's convo is about discussing these two options. In which Christa is more on the long-term (Historia) engagement (how old are they anyway?!).
I also wonder about the Ape. Titans can live w/o munching humans (they kill them though on sense and sight). If the Ape didn't know about the 3DMG, what does it mean - Ape's kingdom is far off (yet titans have been lurking around the Walls for 100 years?) or something stirred (or un-woke) the unknown titans such they attack/recon humans again. Like Phase 2 or something.
It's pretty interesting. Evidently, they 'became humans' but had no choice but to take action afterwards, so now they're in the deep end. I'm curious what exactly happened or is going on with their hometown that is making them do this.
Dat Ymir though, I enjoy that she is on no one's team. It seems like so long as Christa's safe, she'll gladly join enemy hands. The part that kind of confuses me is that Ymir was one of the titans that supposedly 'attacked' their village, right? I mean, it showed it all as a flashback, or was that whole thing fake to make us believe in these two even more so?
What I liked in this chapter is Reiner's psychological break down and Bert feeling pity. They're not stone hearted after all. Isayama may have given us some character development in this chapter but it's very frustrating that everything is stilll a mystery. Now to wait for the next chapter in despair... Tsk.
Now more questions are raised for me. Was hoping some really delicious information in this chapter, but I feel really teased as Reiner interrupts Ymir to tell who the enemy is, but later keeps it as a secret in the end of the chapter.
Those two deviant titans that were following Reiner and the rest felt interesting, they were literally following every move they did as they somehow was interested to it, and the one hiding felt as if it had some "human" traits to it. I don't know, I mightb e over analyzing this, but we've know how Isayama puts these small hints throughout his chapter in SnK. So keep your eyes out I guess.
Also these promotions that Reiner kept talking about was interesting to hear from him, its like they were on a mission, and if they succeeded they would be rewarded with something special I would think. A great power? Higher status? Who knows, some really interesting stuff I would say.
Bertholdt has always been a very quiet person, and for him to feel pity for Eren just shows his character isn't as bad as he is, but something greater occupied his mind when he and Reiner attack Wall Maria at the very beginning. And also that Reiner has taken a liking to Christa\Historia and bargains with Ymir to not tell who the enemy is to Eren. Damn it, again.
Also not sure if it was shown until now, but it looks like Eren can't be transforming to his Titan form while his power is still regenerating his limbs, same with Ymir. That's some interest to this "Titan Power" at least.
When it comes to Eren wanting to know more of this Monkey Titan and this hidden "village" that Reiner keeps on about. We're all on the same boat, hopefully we'll know more about this thing in the next upcoming chapters, hopefully by October please~
I have a feeling that this arc will be centered about this village, Christa and the Monkey Titan. Which should be really good and interesting. Now for another month or two of agony of waiting for a new chapter. At least we have this epic anime going atm. ^^
Are some of you people seriously feeling pity for Bertholdt? Just because he felt sorry for Eren's loss? Are you kidding me? That monster willingly destroyed the wall, fully aware of what consequences it would have for humanity. Where was his pity then? He's a ruthless murderer and like Eren said, deserves his death to be excruciating as possible.
Reiner is turning more and more into a nutcase. He's obviously reaching the stage of being called a schizo and totally losing it. Wouldn't be surprised if he goes completely mad somewhere down the line.
Ymir seemed like she was on Eren's side this whole chapter but eventually all it took was the mention of Christa's name to persuade her to join the enemy's side. If I were in Eren's shoes right now, I'd feel seriously pissed, being betrayed by his only ally in that misery and having to sit there with the two persons who caused humankind's demise. Keeping his emotions locked in that particular situation is impressive given that it's Eren we're talking about.
All in all the chapter didn't really answer anything and just caused even more question marks to appear. I can't say that I like such chapters, especially since the manga is published monthly.
The release of atomic energy has not created a new problem. It has merely made more urgent the necessity of solving an existing one. - Albert Einstein
I also remember Bertholdt saying to Eren (in the training camp) that he envies him for having a will of his own (at that very same time that Bert says he also sorry now). Even so and so, death would be a mercy for those two - whoever and however they are governed or manipulated by.
So, other titans attack human-titans sensing the human in them (just a recap). Human-titans perhaps need to sustain their human needs like having water, food, and sleep, in order to keep their "performance" as titans stable (regeneration has priority over strength and drive to heal the human part) [unlike the other titans. Yet, those others can be kept active during the night :L].
Ah, we have now stalker-titans :)
Good to squeeze something from this chapter, if anything.
And I thought that Ymir finally makes more sense and use. Suddenly I felt like bitch-slapping again.
Chapter really confusing , i wonder if reiner and bert has some contact with erens father , and why did ymir know something that eren didnt , who is the hairy one and why is the hometown of reiner and bert so important ?=
Damn Reiner dicking around with his half assed mentality and manipulations. Ymir has always been on the run from entire world and only thing she wants is to protect the one person she loves - and Reiner goes and pretty much blackmails her to side with them. Fucker. And Berthold is one creep m*therf*ucker!
This fucking guy, i laughed incredibly hard with a mix in anger right when he said that.
Even if he is incredibly delusional right now, i felt like someone should have punched him in the face right there.
redd530 said: Eren: "I'm gonna control my emotions and try to gather intel."
. . . 5 seconds later . . .
Eren: "DON'T F**K WITH ME YOU F**KING MURDERERS."
To be fair he's actually being quite calm about it, considering how he usually is, he'd probably have gone crazy and transformed again. And don't forget the one who basically killed his mother is right in front of his face while the other one goes... well, just check the image above.
The circumstances play a part, Eren told Bertholdt the incident, someone who was repsonsible for his mother's death. It was also precisely the way Bertholdt said it that pissed Eren off. Eren isn't concerned about himself, 'pitying him' does nothing. It was his mother that was killed.
Reiner falls in line with many rather weak-willed people who cannot bear the weight of their actions. If they are looking for the way home, they were planted as spies since young. Duty as a soldier but gets confuse by issues like morality after interacting with people there. His reaction is quite normal to me.
That said, I love this chapter. It is what makes Shingeki no Kyojin interesting to me.
Wow. Do they(Reiner and Bertholdt) really not get why Eren was mad at them?
What the fuck was their justification??
Gotta weight for the translations
EDIT:
AHHHH! WHAT THE FUCK!???
First of all, why did the Colossal and Armored Titans even kidnap Eren!? His power is infinitely inferior, so what did they need him, or even Ymir for that fact, for?
Second, why does everyone love Christa? This is ridiculous, reiner even went on a rant for a short while about how Christa might be into him, the fuck? Of course Eren got mad. He was responsible for killing much of humanity, and specifically, destroying his life.
I don't understand why neither side, Ymir or Reiner, are talking. Why do either of them refuse to explain to Eren?
People are sympathizing with Bert? You have to be FUCKING KIDDING ME. Eren described exactly what he is, a MASS MURDERER. And we don't even know WHY they are doing that, because they REFUSE TO EXPLAIN IT TO EREN!!!! Why. Why do they refuse to explain the situation to someone who they want compliance of??
I don't even know what to think of anymore, what's going to happen next?

STALL CHAPTER
- It might be that the Titan power is very very rare.
- Cause Christa is a goddamned Goddess.
- Cause I think they're still wary of Eren, seeing on how much he wants to kill em all. Would you state your plans to someone who you're not even sure if he's gonna join you yet?
- It is implied that Annie, Ryner and Bertholdt is feeling guilty of the weight of their actions, but to them, getting back to their hometown is a priority.

Ooh those poor things! Someone should hug them tightly and snap their fucking necks while at it. You just reminded me that Annie killed one of my favourite teams back in the forest and then decided to hide inside a crystal like a coward.

Well we didn't get anything from this month, too bad :C.
The art hasn't improved either.
Only more questions~
ps: Going to the basement wasn't a priority (?!) D:
They get shocked and discuss when they found about another infiltrate titan instead of going straight to the basement to get the answers and then something happen...
Eren didn't tell anyone about the key (?)
I might forgot some stuff but i think he did :1...
